ENGKILILI: Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnnical Rayong Ngipa advises the people not to simply sell their native customary land to others.

He said that by being short-sighted, it would cause them to suffer great losses.

“Land is a very prized commodity now and do not sell it for a quick gain. Instead, use the land for your family’s future,” said Rayong at a Rumah Johnson, Lumbok Numpu village security and development committee (JKKK) gathering at Skrang Scheme community hall here recently.

Apart from that, he advised committee leaders in Engkilili jurisdiction to act as a development manager in their respective villages.

They need to function as manager and work to co-ordinate village development programmes by the Barisan Nasional leadership, he said.

“I hope that community leaders will continue to be active and work closely with the government to spearhead development in their area in the future.”

On an unrelated matter, Dr Johnnical said that the United People’s Party (UPP) Engkilili Division membership has reached 3,000 and the target is set at 5,000.

At the event, he announced a minor rural project (MRP) grant of RM10,000 to the committee and RM5,000 for the committee’s Women’s wing, and incentive money to Calvin Cliff (Unimas), Racheal Satok Razali (Unimas) and Beatrice Baking (USM Penang).
