KUCHING: A man claimed trial yesterday to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt using a knife on another man last June.
Sia Siaw Ping, 26, from Green Road appeared before Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiman, who released him on RM1,500 bail in two sureties pending hearing of the case on Nov 3.
He is accused of committing the offence at Jalan Kepayang, Sungai Maong here around 8pm on June 7 and inflicting injuries on the victim.
Sia allegedly committed the offence with three others who are still at large.
Under Section 324 of the Penal Code, voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapons or other sharp objects, provides for a maximum penalty of three years in jail or a fine or whipping.
Inspector Yunus Sahak prosecuted while defence counsel Lim Lian Kee represented the accused.
