KOTA KINABALU: Two masked gunmen grabbed about RM6,000 in cash from a cashier’s counter at a supermarket, prompting patrons to panic and hide behind shelves at Tai Seng Supermarket in Damai yesterday.

The incident happened around 8pm when the duo approached one of the three cashier’s counters at the supermarket’s entrance.

One of them then whipped out a weapon, believed to be a pistol, and ordered the cashier to open a cash register before grabbing the money and fled on foot towards Jalan Tuaran in the dark.
City police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said no patrons or employees were harmed or injured in the incident and police have launched a manhunt to track down the robbers.

He urged members of the public with information to come forward to assist them in their investigation.

The duo are believed to be the same masked robbers who struck at a Senheng store at Kepayan Point commercial centre on Monday and escaped with about RM12,000 in cash, smartphones and a tablet computer.
