His Majesty Attended Bali’s 7th Democracy Forum

BALI, INDONESIA: ASEAN needs to stay united in tackling challenges arising from poverty, inequalities, pandemic disasters and transnational crimes. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in his titah, said ASEAN needs to clarify what it hopes to achieve through people-centred development, and reflect clarity in its strategies for the future. Speaking at the 7th Bali Democracy Forum in Indonesia, the Monarch said that globalisation should nurture equitable growth, whilst also preserving human dignity. The Forum was held yesterday at the Bali International Convention Centre, Republic of Indonesia, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

Upon arrival at the Centre, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Dato Laila Utama Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The Bali Democracy Forum aims to promote and foster regional and international cooperation in the field of peace and democracy through dialogue-based on sharing experiences and best practices that adhere to the principle of equality, mutual respect and understanding.

The opening session began with a report by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Indonesia Republic, His Excellency Doctor R.M. Marty M. Natalegawa.

The forum was inaugurated by the President of Indonesia, His Excellency Dato Laila Utama Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Co-Chair of the forum. This was followed by the opening remarks by the President of the Republic of the Philippines, His Excellency Benigno S.Aquino the Third, who is also the Co-Chair of the forum.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in his titah, expressed his pleasure to be amongst close friends and extended his congratulations to the President of Indonesia for hosting the Bali Democracy Forum.

After the Opening Session, His Majesty consented to join other Leaders and Heads of Delegation for a group photo. Accompanying His Majesty were the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abd Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim; and the Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng.
