Injecting MIB elements in architectural feat

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: As a lead Agency in the country’s built environment, the Ministry of Development has a responsible not just to lead by example but also to be a good leader in the field. In built environment context, the Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB) principles on peace, security, welfare, respects and happiness should be present in all places at all times in the way of the government buildings are designed and constructed as the national identity, Brudirect reported.

This was stated by the Minister of Development at the opening of the world architecture day conference 2014. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman said that Public Works Department has taken an initiative towards the MIB elements in architecture by producing a design guide on MIB in the built environment of the country.

The theme of this year’s World Architecture Day is “Architecture and Identity – A Country’s Challenge. At the event, design competition winners received their prizes. First place went to Wan Design from Brunei Polytechnic School.

The main objective of this conference was to exchange valuable knowledge and share experiences from invited speakers and delegates in the field of architecture and to explore further on MIB ideology in relation to Brunei architecture.
