MELAKA: A 10-year-old boy sustained injuries on three toes when the canvas shoe on his right foot was stuck in an escalator at a popular shopping mall here yesterday.
The incident occurred at 12.15pm when the victim was ‘riding’ the escalator to the top floor of the mall, while accompanied by his family.
The boy was sent to the Melaka Hospital.
A senior fire officer at the Jalan Kubu Arshad Mail Fire and Rescue Department said a security guard rescued the boy before he was provided with initial emergency treatment.
According to initial investigations, a canvas shoe worn by the boy got stuck in the escalator, together with three of his toes. — Bernama
