Lawyer, lecturer appointed judicial commissioners

KUALA LUMPUR: A lawyer and a Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) lecturer were yesterday appointed judicial commissioners at a ceremony held at the Palace of Justice here.

Dr Choo Kah Sing and Dr Sabirin Ja’afar were handed their instruments of appointment by Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria.

They then took their oath of office and loyalty before Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin.

Choo, 47, was previously working for 18 years at several legal firms as defence counsel and solicitor.

Prior to his stint in UTM, Sabirin, 51, was high court senior assistant registrar and head of the Federal Court research unit.

He has also served as legal officer in the judicial and legal service from 1987 to 2011. — Bernama
