8 detained in connection with gambling

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Six locals and two foreigners were detained by the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit under the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) on Monday following a raid carried out in cooperation with the Detective Unit of the Brunei-Muara District Police Station on a premise in the commercial area of Kiulap that was believed to be conducting illegal computer gambling, Brudirect reported.

Equipments believed to be used in the legal activity were also seized. The case is currently under investigation.

If found guilty, the suspects can be charged under Section 8(1) Chapter 28 of the Common Gaming House Act.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has advised the public not to be involved in any criminal activities and if they come across any suspicious activities the police should be contacted at 993 or the nearest police station.
