PONTIAN: Around two million of the seven million 1Malaysia People’s Assistance (BR1M) recipients this year, did not have a bank account.
“This made it difficult for us to channel the money directly to them,” said Finance deputy minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
He urged the recipients to open a bank account as soon as possible, to facilitate disbursement of the money to them next year.
“Once they have opened an account, they should submit the details to the penghulu, village chief or Internal Revenue Board office nearest them,” he told Bernama at Kampung Parit Datuk Onn. — Bernama
