SEMPORNA: A total of 97 GIATMARA students from Sabah Zone 1 (Semporna, Tawau and Silam) received their certificates in a ceremony at GIATMARA Semporna.
Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Haji Abdal handed the certificates for Fashion and Dressmaking to 22 Semporna students, 25 Tawau students, 14 Kalabakan students and 14 Silam students who completed the course.
He also handed certificates for Freezer and Air-Conditioning to 15 Silam students and nine students from Tawau and Semporna from FELDA.
Shafie, who is also Semporna member of parliament, also handed over keys to ten people under the Housing Aid Program 2014 for Kampung Bugaya Darat.
He called on the students to aim higher and strive harder to help their families escape from poverty.
Shafie said without education they will remain poverty stricken and therefore they must always emphasise on education and help in contributing towards the country’s development.
