PUTRAJAYA: Government services made online are expected to reach 90 per cent next year from more than 60 per cent up to last year, said  Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) head of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Advisory, Wan Mohd Rosdi Wan Dolah.

He said that Malaysia’s target was to have its citizens access government services from anywhere at anytime.

“However, it is up to the citizen to value the effectiveness of the online government services. The 90 per cent is just a number.

“It is difficult to measure the effectiveness of a public service online. ICT is very expensive. When we spend one million can we get another one million? ,” he said during his presentation entitled, Malaysian Electronic Government: Journey to Success at the E-government for Modern and Responsive Public Services concurrent session here yesterday.

The session was moderated by Chairperson of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA), Margaret Saner.

Wan Mohd Rosdi said that e-government shortened the time of services which used to take one day to be completed to only within one hour using the online system. — Bernama
