Agency soon to ‘Water bomb’ Syamsudin Noor Airport

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: National Disaster Management Agency or BNPB will immediately conduct water bombing surrounding area of Syamsudin Noor Airport to extinguish hotspots around the site, Antaranews reported.

Deputy Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of BNPB Harmensyah at a joint meeting of DPD, South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Ariffin, the officials and interested parties in Banjarmasin, on Tuesday said the smog in Syamsudin Noor Airport and surrounding areas are now quite severe.

“To overcome the haze around the airport, we will do the water bombing in a day or two,” he said.

The bombings will be carried by helicopter N171 which is now in the airport and prepared to tackle smog immediately.

In addition to around airports, water bombing would be done around the district of Banjar, which is the area most contributor to hotspots in South Kalimantan.
