Indonesian maid charged with hurting employer further remanded

KUCHING: An Indonesian maid who pleaded guilty to a charge of causing grievous hurt to her 50-year-old female employer in a Sessions Court here yesterday was ordered to be placed on further remand pending the delivery of judgment.

Judge Amelati Parnell ordered Dahlia Mangi Kaco from West Sulawesi, Indonesia, to be offered no bail as she is a foreigner.

The case will be mentioned later this month where the brief facts of the case and exhibits will be tendered prior to sentencing.

Dahlia had pleaded guilty to have caused grievous hurt to her employer around 8.30am at Lorong 5, Jalan Stampin Tengah here.

The offence was framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment term of up to 20 years, upon conviction.

It was reported that the accused attacked the employer with a meat cleaver which had caused the former to sustain serious injuries on her body, neck and cheek.

Dahlia was detained on the same day and the meat cleaver covered with blood was also seized as evidence.
