Respect each other traditions, religions, says Lahad Datu assemblyman

LAHAD DATU: The culture of respecting the ethnicity, traditions and religions of other races should continue to be maintained in order to preserve the peace and harmonious relationship among the community living in the state.

Lahad Datu assemblyman, Datuk Mohd Yusof Apdal, said that by respecting each other, misunderstanding can be avoided between the communities and can help to strengthen the the unity and stability of the country.

“Malaysia is a very special country with multi-religious and multi-racial community living in peace, and this is rare. It is hard to find such situation in other countries and we should be proud of this unique situation.

“Therefore, we should continue what we do best, by respecting each other, by taking care of each other and celebrating our festivals together in shared happiness, that is us, Malaysians,” he said when attending the Silam MIC chief, A. Nagaraju’s Deepavali Open House yesterday.

Yusof also reminded the people not to be easily influenced and misled by irresponsible parties that only wish to see a disunited Malaysia for their own selfish interests.

He added that the people should strive to maintain and strengthen the unity among the community and not violate the sensitivities of other races and religions so that we can all live in peace and harmony in the country.

Also present were Silam Wanita Umno leader, Mizmah Appehdullah, Lahad Datu community development officer, Amat Kawoh, Silam Pemuda Umno vice chief, Rahmat Datuk Yusuf, and Silam Umno committee members.
