LABUAN: A breakwater is needed off Kiansam on this island to facilitate fishing vessel operators to land marine catch at the Kiansam jetty, said Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) chairman Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim.
He said the cost of the breakwater was estimated at RM20 million and that the government planned to list the project in the 11th Malaysia Plan.
He added that LKIM would also be raising the issue of shortage of deep-sea fishing licence for local fishermen with the Fisheries Department. — Bernama
