JITRA: Police believed the incident on a car belonging to a customs officer at Taman Bukit Indah near here which was damaged in a fire on Wednesday was due to some quarters who were not happy with the officer concerned.

Kubang Pasu district police chief Supt Abd Rahim Abdullah said police were still investigating.

We have also recorded statements from the victim’s neighbours, he told reporters here yesterday.

He did not refute reports by the media that the car, a Perodua Kelisa, lit up when molotov cocktails were thrown at it.

This, he said, was based on plastic bottles and kerosene found at the scene, he added.

The incident happened about 5am on Wednesday.

Roslan Ahmad, who is with the Bukit Kayu Hitam Customs, said he was alerted about it when a neighbour, who saw the car on fire, telephoned him at about 5am.

The car was parked at his house at Taman Bukit Indah. — Bernama
