KOTA KINABALU: Putatan MP Datuk Dr Marcus Makin Mojigoh has likened DAP’s recent announcement that it would install replicas of the Keningau Oath Stone across the state to one ‘seeking cheap publicity’.
“They are seeking cheap publicity for this, because they don’t have important issues to raise. They want to incite the feelings (of ill will) among Sabahans. They want to fish for votes and honestly, I will not be surprised if the Oath Stone becomes their symbol,” he said us when contacted by The Borneo Post yesterday.
He added that to say that DAP’s rocket logo did not have any connection to Sabah and that the party might consider changing their letterhead with the Oath Stone.
However, he also issued a warning that the Oath Stone contained a curse.
“Don’t be cursed by the natives of Sabah,” he said.
Dr Marcus also mentioned that DAP could install replicas of the Oath Stone anywhere.
“That is entirely up to them. No one is stopping them.
“And please install one at my garden – there is already a stone in place but it needs the inscription on it. As long as they don’t place the ‘rocket’ symbol on it,” he quipped.
Two days ago, Kepayan assemblyman Dr Edwin Bosi, who is also state DAP secretary, announced that it had installed a replica of Keningau Oath Stone in Inanam and said many more would be set up to remind Sabahans on the promises made to the natives by the federal government.
Dr Edwin said the aim was so that the people of Sabah, particularly the future generation, would know about state’s history.
He also hoped that the Keningau Oath Stone would be included in school history books so that the young natives would learn about their history.
