SANDAKAN: Batu Sapi MP Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin has questioned the authenticity of the picture of her sleeping in Parliament recently while a federal minister was delivering his speech, which has gone viral.

In her statement issued to The Borneo Post yesterday, Linda clarified that she was actually reading the notes on her table.

“I was reading my notes on the table, and not sleeping as it might seem on the picture. I believe that the picture on the video was purposely created and spread on social media by irresponsible parties.

“It is a composite photo which I believed might have been created with using Photoshop software. It was circulated on social media along with several defamatory remarks made by Opposition,” said Linda.

As it seemingly appeared to have tarnished Linda’s image, chief liaison officer for Batu Sapi parliamentary constituency Kong Nyuk Thou, lodged a police report, urging police to investigate the source and those responsible for creating and spreading the photo across the social media.

“The composite picture appears to have been created and spread to mislead the public and thus. It has defamed Linda and sullied her image and reputation by taking a screen shot of a television broadcast and then combining with a picture of her probably resting during lunch break in Parliament. The distinct flaw in the composite photo is very noticeable because Linda’s picture was pasted far from her actual seat in Parliament,” he added.

Apart from the police report, Linda is also considering legal action against the irresponsible parties for creating the picture.
