Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said although the police force were being monitored by several agencies, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, but for him, the people were still the best overall observers.

As such, he said the PDRM were prepared to accept any opinions and complaints on the misconducts of police personnel, even when the opinions and complaints were posted on social media, such as Facebook and YouTube, which had been the main medium of communication among the people in the country.

“If a police personnel is involved in crime activities, the people can use their smartphones to snap a picture or record a video of that officer and upload it into YouTube.

“When this happens, immediate action will be taken and the officer will be investigated. That is why I described the people as the best observers,” he told reporters after attending the recognition ceremony of 30 new police horses at the Horse Unit, Federal Reserve Unit Complex, Cheras here yesterday.

Khalid said the people could observe anything concerning the police force and the information would help improve the quality of their service.

He said this in response to the proposed establishment of an Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC).

“The PDRM are prepared to look into and study any submitted proposals before making any comments on the IPCMC,” he said. — Bernama
