KOTA KINABALU: The Society for the Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF) recently welcomed home four

young patients who underwent corrective heart surgery in South Korea early this month.

According to SOSHF honorary secretary, Eva Susau, the patients left for South Korea on Oct 7 and came home on Oct 20. The patients comprised Siti Amira Othman, 8, Mohd Isran Jamaluddin, 14, Shafira
Selamat, 3 and Vallis Valentino Francis, 1.

She added that with the recent addition, SOSHF has already assisted 594 patients who were in dire need of corrective heart surgery due to hole in the heart, a congenital heart disease. A total of 19 patients underwent the surgery this year.

She said that she hoped more patients in Sabah who were in need of the surgery but could not afford to pay the procedure could be assisted by SOSHF.

“That is our hope. Hence, we are calling for the kind members of the community to render their support for the cause and help make this possible,” she said.
