A young motorcyclist died at crashed site

KUCHING: A motorcyclist perished early yesterday when he crashed along Jalan Setia Raja, across from the Tabuan Jaya police complex, while on his way home from work.

The deceased was identified as Darvintharan Ganggatharun, 22, of Kampung Sikog, Jalan Puncak Borneo. A young couple found his body sprawled on the road divider not far from his motorcycle as they were on their way for supper around 12.30am and immediately called for an ambulance.

Medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital arrived at the scene shortly after and declared the victim dead at the scene.

Traffic police personnel were present to investigate the incident before sending the body to the mortuary for a post mortem.

It was learned that Darvintharan worked at Senari Port and was on his way home when he met his end. He leaves behind a wife and a nine-month-old daughter.

In a separate accident, a driver escaped unhurt after crashing his car through the perimeter fencing of a proposed development site at Jalan Tun Jugah early yesterday morning.

The incident happened around 12.40am when the 29-year-old driver, who was alone in the vehicle, lost control of his Toyota Vios while travelling towards Taman BDC.
