Youngsters urged to take up table tennis

SIBU: Datuk Tiong Thai King encourages teenagers to take part in table tennis activity as well as competition.

The honorary advisor of Sibu Ping Pong Association (SPPA) made the call when gracing the two-day Sibu Division Table Tennis President’s Cup held at Sibu Ping Pong Hall in Merdeka yesterday.

He hoped the next competition would see more teenagers taking part. “We hope to develop better players from teenagers too,” he enthused.

Tiong said private sectors and government were supporting such competition to lift up the standard of the competition.

SPPA chairman Clement Chen who also spoke said the competition this year saw a lot of new team members.

He hoped more players would take part in the annual competition the next year.

He said players would have opportunity to play against better opponents in the competition and make new friends.

The competition is divided into 10 men’s team and five women’s team.

The men’s teams are Wong Progress Enterprise, Sesco, KPJ Sibu, KTS, KX1720, RH Group, Dek Pu Construction Sdn Bhd, KSR SSMC, Dragster and Rejang Medical Centre. The women’s teams are Key-Orient, Sesco, Rejang Medical Centre, RH Group and King Chuan Goldsmith.
