KOTA KINABALU: Eighty students from 12 secondary schools in the east coast of Sabah completed the second series of the 1Malaysia Club’s Student Aspiration Camp here yesterday.

The camp which aimed to form a 1Malaysia generation with Malaysia’s aspiration values, was organised by the Education Ministry and the Information Department.

Students of different races were given the opportunity to meet and make new friends from other schools, and go through a series of activities to polish their communication skills besides promoting leadership qualities, friendship and teamwork values.

“We hope that this programme will make the students better individuals. It is important to start now, as teenagers are at their critical age in which we could mould them into better persons and represent the future generation,”said the deputy director of the State Information Department, Yunus Saprin, when closing the camp.

Three schools in Ranau, three from Tuaran, three from Kota Kinabalu, two from Putatan and one from Penampang took part in the camp, which is held twice a year.
