DOs play crucial role in implementing govt programmes — CM

KENINGAU: District officers (DOs) play a crucial role in implementing government policies and programmes, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman.

He said their position is important as they play a role between the leaders and the community.

“The DOs are constantly in touch with the people and they have been entrusted to carry out government projects properly and effectively,” he told the 26 District Officers while officiating the 21st Conference of District Officers at Hotel Perkasa here on Sunday night.

Musa said whether a district is developed or not, depended on the District Officers of the districts concerned.

“If the District Officer carry out his duties and responsibilities with full dedication, commitment and hard work, definitely the district under him will prosper well,” he said. Musa added when the government introduced the housing programme for the hardcore poor (PPRT), the district officers were entrusted to implement the project throughout Sabah and they did a splendid job in achieving a 100 per cent result.

“I am very happy with the performance of all the Disrtrict Officers and proud of them.”

The Chief Minister also told the District Officers to be honest, uphold integrity and be transparent in carrying out their duties. “Whenever a DO is given a task to do, he must do it sincerely and honestly,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister cum Minister of Infrastructure Development Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, Rural Develoment Minister Datuk Radin Malleh, Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Sabah State Secretary Tan Sri Hj Sukarti Wakiman, Assistant Infrastucture Development Minister Datuk Bobbey Suan and Assistant Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Sairin Karno also attended the conference.
