MARUDI: The logging company has been blamed for damaging parts of the newly tar-sealed Poyut/ Lubok Nibong Road near here.

During his trip to SK Poyut last Saturday, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau could not contain his disappointment upon seeing the cracks and uneven surfaces at several sections of the 25km stretch.

“The government just completed tar-sealing work on this road several months ago but now, it looks like this. I was told that heavy trucks had been going between the logging station and Lubok Nibong bazaar via this road.

“I call on the operator to stop its lorries using this road. It costs us a lot to improve this stretch and even more to repair it,” he told The Borneo Post.

Dennis also called on the Road Transport Department to monitor all lorries plying this route.

The assemblyman was accompanied by PBB Telang Usan Youth chief Dominic Nyurang Ajang and some of its members during the inspection.
