Malaysia and Vietnam to battle for AFF Beach Football Crown

KUANTAN: Malaysia and Vietnam will clash in the AFF Beach Football final for the title at Teluk Chempedak beach, here, tomorrow.

Malaysia marched into the final after defeating Thailand 3-2 in the semi-final match while Vietnam beat Laos 3-2 in the other semi-final.

The first half of the Malaysia-Thailand encounter ended goalless.

However, Thailand went ahead in the second half with a goal in the 11th minute via Tanandon Praracha.

Malaysia equalised in the 4th minute of the third quarter through Mohd Hasrol Ali before Thailand took the lead again with a second goal two minutes later by Tanandon Praracha.

Malaysia replied through Khairul Azizi in the 11th minute to equalise 2-2.

Malaysia’s winning goal in the 14th minute came from Alias Halib in extra time.

In the other semi-final, Bui Tran Tuan Anh was the hero of Vietnam when he scored a hattrick in the 3rd minute of the first quarter and in the first and second minute in the third quarter.

Laos replied through Thinnakone Vongsa in the 10th minute of the first quarter and Chiu Nonmany in the 10th minute of second quarter but were not good enough.

Malaysia will face Vietnam at 4.30pm tomorrow to determine the first and second placings, while Thailand and Laos will square off for the third and fourth positions at 3pm on the same day and at the same venue. — Bernama
