MIRI: Thieves fished out several items from four stalls at Miri Handicraft centre at Jalan Brooke during the wee hours on Monday.

Four cleavers left behind when the thieves panicked and fled after the security guard shouted at them.

Amongst the items that went missing were several traditional beads, a passport (belonging to one of the stall owners), cash (including several Brunei dollars).

It was said the suspects used a plastic pressure pipe to fish out the items. According to sources, two unknown men were spotted wandering around the area at 3am.

“A security guard who saw the suspects standing suspiciously at one of the stall’s window shouted at them,” said one of the victims.

They panicked and fled the scene leaving behind four cleavers they had fished out. A police report on the incident has been lodged at Miri centre police station (CPS) the afternoon of the same.
