SANDAKAN: A jobless local man was yesterday sentenced to 42 months in jail and six strokes of cane by the Magistrate’s Court here for drug possession.
Mohammad Ali Bin Adam, 29, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun to a charge under Section 39 A (1) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The court was told that the police arrested the accused around 7.15pm on July , this year at Kampung Tinusa 2.
The accused was allegedlt involved in drug abuse in front of the mosque at Kampung Tinusa 2 area.
The accused was holding a black plastic bag when arrested.
A medium size packet of plastic and 15 small packets of plastic containing Methamphetamine were found on him.
The Chemistry Department certified that the plastic contained 9.87gram of Methamphetamine, prosecuting Officer ASP Majari Awal Jari told the court.
