KOTA KINABALU: State Education Director, Datuk Jame Alip has instructed the principals of all schools involved in the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) to monitor the weather and to act swiftly to ensure all their school examination candidates successfully sat for the examination.

“Due to the unpredictable weather, particularly during heavy and continuous rain which may result in flooding and landslide, I have instructed that proactive measures be taken by both the district education office and the schools concerned,” he said.

He added that all those concerned must have contingency plans to ensure the examination candidates were able to sit for all their papers.

He also said that yesterday, a total of four schools in Beaufort were closed due to flooding.

Those affected were SK Sinoko, SK Bambangan, SK Lembah Poring and SK Tamalang.

A total of 217 students and 50 teachers were affected by the closure.
