LAHAD DATU: Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and Urban Community Committees (JKDB) should have a clear understanding of their roles, duties and responsibilities.

Rural Development Minister Datuk Radin Malleh in his speech, presented by Assistant Rural Development Minister Datuk Nilwan Kabang said this was important as JKKK and JKDB acted as a catalysts, coordinators and intermediary bodies between the people and the government.

He said JKKK and JKDB were channels for delivering information and government policies as well as facilitators in delivering feedback to the government on the development and welfare of the people.

“In general, JKKK and JKDB have successfully delivered public expectations of basic needs such as building roads, water supply, electricity supply, schools and other facilities.

“However, there are still some JKKK and JKDB who are unclear of their roles and responsibilities in helping the people and government.

“Realizing the importance of this, the Rural Development Ministry has determined that JKKK and JKDB are required to take management and administration courses,” he said.

According to Radin, these courses could create more skills for JKKK and JKDB.

Through training and lectures given in the course, JKDB and JKKK will also be able to improve their services in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people.

Meanwhile, Radin said the implementation of government policies and programmes required commitment from all parties, and urged all parties to work together to achieve rapid development and a bright future for the country.

He also call on the community to maintain peace and understanding among each other in order to protect the peace and welfare of the country.

Also present were Tungku assemblyman Datuk Mohd Suhaili Said, permanent secretary to the Rural Development Ministry Datuk Masood Salleh and District Officer Iman Ali.
