KUCHING: A total of 15 big bikers from several clubs in Terengganu started their 10-day ‘Kembara Muhibbah’ across Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah yesterday.

The trip, endorsed and sponsored by the Terengganu state government, will see participants visiting several towns on their 500cc bikes before ending their journey in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

Tourism Terengganu senior manager Hishamuddin Hashim said the trip intends to enable participants to explore the uniqueness of Sarawak and Sabah, while promoting Terengganu.

“The bikers are the ambassadors of Terengganu and they will be on a goodwill mission to strengthen the relationships between bikers and the people of the places they visit and Terengganu,” he said at the convoy flag-off yesterday. He called on more big bike clubs from outside the state to explore Sarawak for their events.

Meanwhile, event director Tarmizi Mohamad said the other stops are Sibu, Miri, Brunei, Lawas and Keningau.

“Our convoy will make a pit stop at the Lawas Bike Week on Nov 1, where we will also invite clubs from Borneo to participate in Terengganu’s biggest bike week scheduled to be held next year,” he said.

Tarmizi also thanked bikers from Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah, who will be participating in the convoy and hoped the programme will create a special bond among bikers from all states.

Among the bikes flown in by Maskargo to Kuching were Honda Goldwing, Harley Davidson, Kawasaki and Benelli.
