KUCHING: Around 5,000 copies of ‘2015 Chinese New Year Music Video’ album featuring community leaders and other organisations, will be produced for sale here.

Federation of Kuching-Samarahan Chinese Associations president Temenggong Lu Kim Yong said with a total of 115 affiliated associations members under the federation’s umbrella, they were confident to hit the sales target of 5,000 to raise money for the ‘Chinese-medium education fund’.

“This is the first of its kind to be produced locally, where Chinese community leaders have been invited to take part in the music video.

“Produced by Malaysia Cultural Performance Activists Association (MCPAA), proceeds from its sales would go to the fund. All production costs are borne by leaders in the Chinese community,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.

Asked if he had received any doubtful feedback that there is no market for such a big target, he said: “With all the support that we have received in the past in raising funds, we are confident to enjoy the same support, especially with a joint effort from all, including the Chinese community itself.

“Furthermore, this is for a good cause and this type of production has never being done before, where all leaders in the Chinese community are featured.”

With production of the one-of-its-kind music video nearing completion, he said they would hold a press conference soon to announce the release of the album.

He therefore urged the community to give their full support to the good cause.

During a press conference held recently, it was revealed that the album would comprise 13 songs.

Lu, who was also present, expressed his appreciation to MCPAA for taking the lead to help Chinese education by producing the album.

Apart from Chinese community leaders, he said the association has also invited Chinese associations, Red FM deejays, reporters and other organisations to be involved.

MCPAA secretary-general Dominic Sim said they are working on the project with production crew ‘Froggy Planet’ from Sabah.
