KOTA KINABALU: An elderly man, who was charged on Thursday with several counts of raping and molesting two of his granddaughters, aged eight and 12, was yesterday charged with raping a third granddaughter at the Sessions Court.

The 67-year-old accused, who appeared before judge Indra Hj Ayub, had earlier pleaded guilty to raping his other granddaughter, aged 10, on two occasions, but retracted his guilty plea when the case came up for sentencing.

The accused, who was defended by counsel Ram Singh, was alleged to have raped the third granddaughter twice in the living room of a house in a village at Jalan Kiansom in Inanam at the end of September and on October 9.

The judge fixed November 27 for the trial of the case and the accused was denied bail.

Earlier, Ram told the court that he would be representing the accused for all the charges which had been mentioned in two other Sessions Courts.

Deputy public prosecutor Aida Fatimah Datuk Abdul Jabbar confirmed that the accused had several other cases in the other courts.

The accused had on Thursday appeared before Sessions Court judges Ainul Shahrin Mohamad and Azreena Aziz over charges of raping the 12-year-old granddaughter and trying to rape and molesting the eight-year-old granddaughter.
