TAWAU: The Malaysian Red Crescent Tawau Chapter officially opened a new quarters for its caretaker yesterday.

Datuk Chin Chee Syn and Datuk Pang Ah Foh, the main sponsors of the project, performed the offical opening ceremony. They have also been appointed as the advisors of the Red Crescent Tawau Chapter.

Chapter chairman Pang Pak Chung expressed gratitude to the two advisors for their generosity as well as support and contribution from the public to make the project a success.

Pang said the quarters was built by their caretaker, Anwar and family, who are staying there. Most of the building materials are made from recycled items that were contributed by the public. It took them about a year to complete the quarters which is one of the Red Crescent Tawau Chapter’s properties.

“Over the past 20 years, our Red Crescent Tawau Chapter had succeeded to hold a recycling collection program which led the chapter to become a ‘model guild’ in Malaysia.

“Today, our chapter has given out 300 wheelchairs worth about RM240,000 to the poor and needy,” said Pang who urged the poor and needy who need wheelchairs to apply at the Red Crescent Tawau Chapter office.

He also hoped the public would continue to support the charity events of the Red Crescent Tawau Chapter.
