Abg Johari pays courtesy call on Hungarian minister

BUDAPEST, Hungary: Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg paid Hungary’s Minister of State for Economic Regulations Bela Glattfelder a courtesy call at his office here yesterday.

The one-hour meeting with the Hungarian minister and his senior officials was to discuss the possibility of joint collaboration in tourism and heritage as well as the study of city planning and development, said a press statement from Sarawak Tourism Board.

Abang Johari was accompanied by Assistant Minister of Tourism (Local Events and Products) Datuk Gramong Juna, Assistant Minister of Culture and Heritage Liwan Lagang, Assistant Minister of Youth Development Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Malaysian ambassador to Hungary Mohamad Sadik Gany during the visit.

Earlier, the Sarawak delegation attended the Budapest city development briefing at the City Hall where Abang Johari was met by the Budapest vice mayor Dr Gabor Bagdy. The delegation, which also comprised Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi as well as senior officials from Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Housing and Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), also toured the Oganica Water’s environmental friendly South Pest Wastewater Treatment Plant located about 10 kilometres from the city centre and was given a briefing by its business development manager Peter Uarga.

Yesterday’s event was capped with a dinner hosted by Sadik at his residence in Verecke Ut 72.

The 25-member delegation from Kuching ends the five-day working visit to Vienna, Austria and Budapest, Hungary today.
