BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, arrives in Penang, Malaysia. The Monarch is in Penang to attend the Conferment Ceremony of the Honorary Doctorate in Law from University Science Malaysia, to be held today, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.
His Majesty arrived in Penang late yesterday afternoon. Present at the Penang International Airport to greet the Monarch were the Raja of Perlis, His Majesty Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, Yang Di-Pertua Negeri of Penang, His Excellency Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas, the Chief Minister of Penang, Yang Amat Berhormat Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Chairman of the Board of Governors of University Science Malaysia, Tan Sri Datuk Doctor Zulkefli A. Hassan, and other senior government officials of Malaysia.
Also present at the Airport to greet His Majesty were the Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awg Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong; and the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Malaysia, His Excellency Dato Paduka Awg Haji Alaihuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Haji Awg Mohd Taha.
His Majesty consented to walk past a static guard mounted by 2 officers and 26 personnel of the Second Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment of the Sungai Ara Camp.
Before boarding the motorcade carrying His Majesty to the Shangri-La Hotel, where the Monarch will reside throughout the visit, a Doa Selamat was read by the Director of Transformation Office, Yang Berbahagia Al-Ustaz Dato’ Ellias bin Haji Zakaria.
Upon arrival at the hotel, His Majesty was greeted by the Hotel’s General Manager, Madam Elaine Yue, as well as the hotel’s staff.
Accompanying His Majesty during the visit were the Second Minister of Finance at the Prime Minister’s Office, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Abd Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng.
