MIRI: 102 junior players will converge in Miri for the final leg of Mamee TennisMalaysia Junior Tour 2014 to be held at Miri Tennis Center and Piasau Boat Club from Nov 6-9.
The winners of Leg 5 of the Mamee TennisMalaysia Junior Tour 2014 in a photo call with organisers at Perlis Sports Complex in Kangar from Aug 14-17.
In a press statement yesterday, organisers said up to 22 players have registered for the boys Under-10 category including the top ranked Edy Al Amin from Negeri Sembilan.
Three of the top four ranking players for girls U-10, namely Iman Syuhada Abdullah and Nur Ain Nadhirah Adnan both from Negeri Sembilan and Chan Li Ying from Penang, have confirmed participation. The girls U-12 final is expected to pit Sarawak’s Angeline Hui Sian Ong (No. 2 seed) against top seed, Nur Irdina Mohd Rosdi from Selangor.
TennisMalaysia chairman Mirzan Mahathir said the tour, which kicked off in March this year, has attracted over 1,000 players nationwide.
“We have travelled to eight different venues and this tournament has become more popular among junior players … and we are looking forward to their performances in Miri,” he said in the press statement.
Players compete in four age-groups: U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16.
The top 16 players in each category will be invited to play in the Masters tournament in Kuala Lumpur from Dec 18-21.
