KUALA LUMPUR: The award-winning home and decor exhibition Homedec, organised by C I S Network Sdn Bhd, was held from Oct 23 to Nov 2 recently.

Part 1, ‘Design + Renovate’ focused on permanent features while Part 2 ‘Furnish + Decorate’ dealt with furnishing and loose items.

Over 1,600 exhibition booths and 500 local and international companies exhibited during the exhibition and visitors had a gala time sourcing for home-related items.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was ‘The Rooms at Design Street’, where four magnificent life-sized rooms were given different themes and styles for the bedroom, living room and dining room.

Winner of the MIID-Reka-Homedec Award 2013 (Residential Category), Ooi Boon Seong led three other designers – Bill Keith, Eddie Ng and Astley Ng – to show off their design prowess in a room.

“We came up with ‘The Rooms’ to give visitors the latest and edgiest in interior design. In the past, interior design was only available to a select few, but we want to change that.

“Making quality interior design more accessible can shake up the industry and give designers their due recognition. Often, they are very much unknown to the public,” C I S Network Sdn Bhd president Dato’ Vincent Lim said.

Ooi weaved his magic in room one – ‘Industrial Chic’, where the beauty of metal and recycled products was weaved into a stylish composition, resulting in an edgy end look with a very current vibe.

“The industrial chic look and feel is also suitable for those who intend to incorporate a dance studio or workplace,” says Ooi.

Malaysia’s renowned fashion designer turned home designer, Bill Keith created an oasis for the weary worker to rejuvenate everyday in his room ‘Tropical Indochine’.

With the beach in the background in mind, Bill created a room to soothe the senses with tree bark, leaves and organic textures in the room, and the room was designed to truly pamper the harried soul in true Malaysian style by providing the luxury of a resort for the masses.

Luxurious homes around the world would adore the ‘Modern Classic’ style, a design that evolves yet remains timeless, courtesy of up-and-coming designer from Sunpizz Kitchen and Home, Eddie Ng.

Meanwhile, Astley Ng of Sky Creation Design expressed a bohemian vibe through his ‘Boho Chic’ theme, partaking in unconventional design and bold home concepts where artistry and a fusion of concepts helped to produce a true work of art.

The main sponsors of The Rooms at Design Street included Megaman Electronic & Lighting (M) Sdn Bhd, Panasonic Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Fascina (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, KC Landscape Service Sdn Bhd, TAK Products & Services Pte Ltd and Continental Aces Sdn Bhd.

Visitors to the exhibition were inspired by viewing the submissions of projects for the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID) Nippon Paints Reka Awards 2014 – Design Excellence panel exhibition.

Homedec also announced the results of their selected products and services of the Homedec Quality and Good Design Award, allowing visitors to purchase these products with a Homedec Award Seal.

The exhibition also featured the Homedec Contest, where visitors stand a chance to drive home a brand new Isuzu D-Max 2.5L or Isuzu D-Max V-Cross 3.0L, and a chance to bring home RM1,000 cash just by visiting the Isuzu booth.

Daily prizes worth up to RM345,000 were up for grabs as well.
