SIBU: Dayang Kunsil, the biological mother of Cathrine Junai Michael, Melisa Michael and Oliviarina Dayang, will take back her daughters from their adopted mother.

She said she was sad to know of the hardships they had faced since she left them.

The 30-year-old woman from Katibas in Song said she gave her children to her relative (the adopted mother) in 2013 because she could not afford to raise them following her divorce about two years ago.

“I was then working at a coffee shop in Sibu Jaya and what I earned was not enough for us.

“So I gave them to my relative. I visited them once a month,” she said when met at Sibu central police station. She has remarried and is staying with her husband in an oil palm plantation in Sungai Assan near here.

Yesterday, police took Dayang to Sibu Hospital to take her blood sample.

She was also brought to Sibu Welfare Department office.

On Saturday, Cathrine, 7; Melisa, 6; and Oliviarina, 2; with another girl Rebecca Seja Josephine, 7, were found by two policemen wandering at a commercial area in Sibu Jaya.

The girls were alleged to have been abandoned by their adopted mother. They had with them two bags, two umbrellas and RM70 in Monopoly money when found.
