Sabah state assembly approves Kadzim M Yahya’s nomination as senator

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah state legislative assembly today approved the nomination of Datuk Kadzim M Yahya to be appointed as a senator in the Dewan Negara for a second term.

In making the announcement Sabah state assembly deputy speaker Datuk Johnny Mositun said the motion was approved after it received 49 supporting votes and two neutral votes. There was no objection.

Among those supporting Kadzim’s nomination were two opposition state assemblymen, Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing (PKR-Tamparuli) and Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen (PKR-Inanam) as well as two independent state assemblymen, Jeremy
Malajad (Kadamaian) and Jalani Hamdan (Matunggong).

Earlier his candidacy was proposed by Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor and seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan. -Bernama
