BRUNEI–MUARA: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam has consented to watch the Brunei Open Swimming Championship, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.
His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel yesterday consented to take part in the championship organised by the Brunei Amateur Swimming Association.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Othman.
Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.
Also at the event was His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s son and daughter, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim and Her Royal Highness Princess Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah.
The Monarch consented to watch the breast stroke event participated by His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel.
His Majesty’s presence to watch the championship was evident of His Majesty’s attention towards the sports development in the country.
One hundred and thirty eight swimmers including nineteen from Miri, Sarawak took part in the championship.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Muntaqim who represented the ISB Hammerheads Team consented to take part in the breast-stroke, back stroke and free-style swimming events for male participants.
The three-day championship is scheduled to conclude this Sunday.
