MIRI: In support of their participation, the Kaban GOP Association (KGA) has donated badminton rackets to six special pupils of SK Pendidikan Khas Miri.

The players are representing the state at the four-day national level ‘OKU Sports Carnival’ at Kolej Matrikulasi in Kuantan, Pahang commencing yesterday.

They are Catherinena Luteh, Evelyn Lati, Tyson Then, Albert Kunsing, Maggie Paya and Maverick Fadenz Manggoi.

The players are led by the school’s coaches Muhammad Hafiz and Ling Mee Choo.

KGA deputy president Dana Empading handed over the rackets to the recipients at the Badminton Hall in Krokop here recently, witnessed by SK Pendidikan Khas headmaster Stanley Aba.

“This may be a simple contribution from KGA but it goes a long way to show that we care and sympathise with the plight of the needy.

“I hope the special players will bring back glory and pride to Miri in particular, and Sarawak in general,” he told The Borneo Post.

Also present to witness the simple handing over ceremony were the school’s senior assistant (co-curriculum) Ahmad Shahdan and KGA honorary treasurer Celestine Atum.

Stanley, on behalf of the school, extended his thanks and gratitude to KGA for the thoughtful gesture.
