MIRI: The recreational clubs of two sister hotels, namely Imperial Hotel and Imperial Palace Hotel, have launched their annual ‘Gingerbread House’ project.

The charity programme, for Christmas, began at Imperial Palace Hotel’s lobby yesterday.

Imperial Hotels Group general manager Su Sii Jiong said it had set a target to collect at least RM10,000 from the fundraiser.

“With Christmas just around the corner, it’s that time again for us to share the love and warmth with everybody through this charity project.

“This year, the Palliative Care Association of Miri and Human Life Service of Miri would be the beneficiaries of this programme – each will receive RM5,000 from the proceeds.”

In view of this, Su called for support from the guests as well as members of the public to make this year’s edition a success.

“They can support by purchasing Christmas cookies and cakes at the Gingerbead House, available at both hotels.

“In addition, the clubs are going to run a Charity Food Fair this Dec 7, from 10am to 2.30pm, at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall,” Su said, adding that the objective would be improve relations between the hotel and the surrounding community.

“All food items available during the fair are specially prepared by the chefs from the sister hotels, and proceeds from sales will go to the same charitable bodies too.”

Imperial Hotels Group’s ‘Gingebread House’ project has been organised annually since 2009, serving as a platform for both sister hotels to carry out their corporate social responsibility programmes aimed at giving back to the community.
