On Saturday, its general manager Vincent James Nonis led the management to light up the Christmas tree to give the hotel a festive ambience.

Cookies and cakes are also on sale at the Gingerbread House in the lobby.

Christmas turkey will be available from Dec 1 at RM260 per bird.

The hotel is also holding a Wish Tree Campaign where people can purchase cards and bookmarks from the hotel’s front desk at Western Palace and Han Palace Restaurants, at prices ranging from RM10 for a pack of three bookmarks, and from RM30 for a pack of five greeting cards.

Guests can write their wishes on these cards to hang on the ‘Wish Tree’ in the lobby.

Proceeds from the sale would be channelled to the children of Peberi longhouse in Lapok, Bakong which is some two hours’ drive from here.

“The hotel is calling the public and guests to donate toys and books for more than 50 children from the longhouse.

“The toys and books should be in a good condition and those who want to contribute new toys and books are welcome.

“The hotel will be visiting paediatric and psychiatric wards in Miri Hospital on Dec 17,” it said.

The Grand Palace Hotel’s own choir will be singing Christmas carols and goodies in the form of biscuits and packet drinks will be distributed.
