KUCHING: Bukan Lawan Nya (Roslan Bujang) did justice to its name when it raced true to form to win Class 1 over 1000M in Race 5 last Sunday.

The four-year-old whose name means “Not His Match” produced a sustained gallop in the home straight to score a gapping comeback win – after finishing out of board in its last three starts.

Bukan Lawan Nya quickly strode to the front on settling down and made a break round the home turn.

Given its head coming into the final stretch, the roan colt bolted to finishing line with 4 lengths to spare from Money Come (Hamid Elli) who pipped third placer Ini Kali (Mazlan Bujang) by a nose.

The winner, owned by Berjaya Stable and trained by Tamizi Putit, paid RM15.

No Money No Talk (Roslan Bujang) defied promotion by scoring an effortless win in Race 3 (Class 3 over 1000M).

The six-year-old cantered to the winning post by a street from Aries (Jasmi Kamar) with Datang Lagi (Maruf Wahab) third, a neck away.

No Money No Talk, owned by Berjaya Stable and trained by Tamizi Putit, paid RM5.

Geronimo (Roslan Bujang) completed a double for the meeting

with another runaway victory in Race 4 (Class II – 1000M).

The three-year-old, who now has wins win in a row, made light of promotion, leading all the way to win by a street from Naga Laut (Jasmi Kamar) with Young Generation third 2 ½ lengths further back.

W Stable’s Geronimo, trained by Tamizi Putit, paid RM5.

The lowest class of ponies produced the most exciting finish on the final day of local racing.

Breaking the monotony of the routine big-margin wins in the other races, Winning Mood (Hamid Elli) defied 77kg on its back to score an exciting victory in Race 1 (Class 5 – 1000), paying RM16.

The six-year-old fought out a close finish to beat Big Chief (Othman Putit) by a head with Junior Champ (Maruf Wahab) third, 8 lengths adrift.

Winning Mood who completed a double for the meeting is owned by Mawar Stable and trained by Lee Moi Fong.

The going was good.
