KUALA LUMPUR: The Sepak Takraw Association of Malaysia (PSM) has no plans to engage the services of a foreign coach said its president Datuk Ahmad Ismail.

He said the PSM selection committee had received 22 applications, all from local coaches, to fill the post of National sepaktakraw coach which fell vacant after former coach Jamaluddin Hassan decided to step down after the Incheon Asian Games.

“I don’t know who the shortlisted candidates are because I have not received a report from the selection committee,” he told Bernama when contacted yesterday.

The sepaktakraw team came under heavy criticism after failing to win any medals at the Incheon Asian Games in South Korea, despite having won a silver medal in the 2010 edition hosted by China in Guangzhou.

Following the debacle, coach Jamaluddin, 60 announced his decision to step down last month. — Bernama
