Water prices in Kotabaru Rp30,000

KOTABARU, South Kalimantan: The average price of water in South Kelumpang, Kotabaru District, during dry season was Rp30,000 per drum (200 liters contents), Antaranews reported.

A restaurant owner in South Kelumpang, Aluh, said on Wednesday net price Rp30,000 per drum of water has been longstanding. “Inevitably must be bought, because wells are dry during dry season,” she said.

She claimed the people in South Kelumpang, are familiar with the price of water that soared to Rp 30,000 per drum or about Rp3,000 per jerry can (25 liters contents).

Due to the expensive, Aluh said, she and her family must be frugality, using water only as needed.

“Though it started to rain, water price is still Rp30,000 per drum. Usually when it start to rain, and there are wells water, the price of water goes down,” she explained.

Earlier, residents in Kotabaru, Wanto, said, though it was more than three times the rain, water in the city of Kotabaru still hard to come by. Waterpipe in the kitchen still looks dry now.

It causes the price of water peddled by residents jumped from Rp75,000 to Rp60,000 per gallon (1.200 liters contents).

Director of Kotabaru Regional Water Company, Zulkifli AR, has so far not been able to be confirmed.
