KOTA KINABALU: Two men were jointly charged at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday with receiving a stolen Kancil car.

Shahiful Azman, 30, and Mohd Ali Mirdad Yusof, 29, claimed trial before magistrate Mohd Faiz Omar to the offence which they committed at the Taman Telipok Ria roundabout in Tuaran around 2pm on November 10.

They had in their possession a stolen Perodua Kancil belonging to Abd Rahim Mulok.

The offence, framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code, carries a prison term not exceeding five years as well as a fine, if found guilty.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Syahrin Ali urged the court to impose a RM8,000 bail under two local sureties.

However, Shahiful and Mohd Ali asked for lighter bail amounts, with Shahiful adding that he had financial difficulties.

Mohd Faiz then fixed December 4 for case management and granted bail of RM3,000 under two local sureties for each of them.

Meanwhile, the Sessions Court fixed February 16 to 17 for the trial of a man who was charged with robbing several 24-hour stores.

Judge Azreena Aziz delivered the decision on Rodjil Armi who maintained his plea of not guilty to robbing several Orange outlets with his brother in early August.

Rodjil claimed trial to all the charges which are framed under Section 395/97 of the Penal Code and punishable with a maximum 20 years’ jail as well as whipping.

Deputy public prosecutor Chow Siang Kong acted for the prosecution.
