SIBU: Footballers eager to don state colours are invited to attend the selection trial at Tun Zaidi Stadium here tomorrow.
Sibu Football Association secretary Abdul Hajis Abdullah said Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) coach Johnny, together with his assistant, was currently on a state-wide recruitment drive for talented footballers.
He said the duo would be here on Nov 22 to pick the players for both the President Cup Under-21 and the 2016 Sukma U-19.
Hajis said players taking part in the just concluded Sibu League championship stood a good chance to get selected.
He said students could also attend the selection trial for the 2016 Sukma U-19 squad.
“Come in full sports gear for the selection trial and show you skills to impress the coach,” he added.
Hajis said it would be nice if some players from Sibu could at least earn a ticket to don state colours.
“It has been such a long time that Sibu players have not been able to get into the state squad. Hopefully, during the selection trial, we can get at least some players to represent Sibu for the President Cup of the Sukma U-19.”
Hajis said players shortlisted would have to conduct their centralized training in Kuching.
He reminded them to come early for the selection trial, which will be held from 3 to 6pm.
