Inanam will not be neglected though under opposition — MP

KOTA KINABALU: Sepanggar member of parliament Datuk Jumat Idris has assured the people of Inanam that the government would continue to bring about development projects even though the area is now under the opposition.

He gave the assurance during the recent launching of healthy lifestyle campaign and roadshow at Kampung Keliangau, Menggatal, which was jointly organised by the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK), Kemas and Menggatal Health Centre Advisory Panel.

In the last general election, the Barisan Nasional (BN) failed to retain the Inanam state seat after its candidate Joseph Paulus Lantip from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) lost to Dr Roland Chia of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Jumat said the government would continue with its programmes to bring about development to the constituency, particularly in upgrading the existing roads and the construction of rural and village roads.

Inanam constituency would not be left behind in terms of development even though the area is now under the opposition, he assured.

During the event, Jumat also approved the upgrading and extension of Kampung Keliangau community hall which would be implemented next year.

Earlier in her speech, the village’s JKKK chairperson Ayunah Majabin had brought to Jumat’s attention that the village community hall was urgently in need of upgrading for the convenience of the residents to hold any government programs or activities.

Apart from that a talk on health conducted by Kota Kinabalu regional health officer Dr Hj Mohammad Safree Jefree, various other activities were also held including free medical screening and briefing on KOSPEN program as well as lucky draws, children colouring competition and karate demonstration by Club Karate Kamikaze Kg Keliangau.

Ayunah said the event was part of the community’s programmes being organised by the JKKK for this year.

Also present were PBS Inanam division head Fredoline Bangon and Community Development officer Lukin Taliban.
